The Giza photo that no longer exists!

April 27, 2013

Must share a bit of a regret story!

As we departed Cairo this morning I was particular in getting some good photos of the Imp in front of the Giza Pyramids. Well all was just fine until we arrived in Port Said! At a police control point we were singled out from a stream of traffic and asked for our papers and duly presented them and next thing we know they ask. What did you photograph in Port Said to which we said nothing. But they did not accept this. Then I remembered that we had photographed one of the ships sailing up the Suez Canal and they said this was a big problem. So clearly photography is not allowed in this area but we were not aware of this and we then said we would delete the photo. but try as I might I could not get the damn photo to delete, so guess what, to avoid any hassles I decided to delete all the photos on the camera since I had downloaded them onto our computer the night before. this done, only tonight when I wanted to upload out little imp next the Giza thingies did I remember that this will not happen thanks to some interfering Egyptian who must have told the police that there were some SPIES taking photos of their silly ships floating up the river!

Now what happened at the very next police control was another eye opener!

Again we were singled out by the officers, about 12 of them, and instructed to bring our car to one side so as not to block traffic so we were going to be grilled yet again. Well grilled we were but grilled with a difference!

These officers were so completely amazed by our journey that they said that they wanted to conduct a formal interview and ushered us to one side so that they could record the interview in quietness. What a difference to the clowns of the previous control.

We left the interview control with handshakes all around and great wishes for our continuing journey.

  1. Hey, deleting a picture from a memory card doesn’t mean it’s gone! šŸ™‚

Good news: there is some good free software to restore whatever was on your card, so you might be lucky to get it back! šŸ™‚

    • hey thanks Job this is great news. will ask a clever person to help us in this regard!
